Mission of the department

To coordinate the smooth running of Agricultural production operations in the Municipality; to support, promote and guide all crop, Livestock, Fisheries Production , by ensuring that all farmers, producers and fishers are assisted in raising the quantity and quality of their produce on the small land holdings available in an environmentally sustainable manner.

Goals of the department

1. To achieve, maintain and increase quantitative and qualitative Agricultural production.

2. To ensure provision of quality services to farmers, fishers and producers in terms of animal and plant materials, approved breeds and types, appropriate management and production technologies, inputs and other relevant services and to implement government programs such as the PFA/NAADS.

3. To halt control and reduce incidence and spread of infection/infestation by principal pests and diseases and weeds within the municipality in animals and crops

4. To ensure that water, soil and other elements of natural resources used in agricultural production are conserved and their productivity sustained.

5. To promote urban agriculture in the municipality using the limited resources available. Demographic factors in the municipality render traditional agricultural practices inapplicable.

6. The veterinary sub-sector also has the additional role of ensuring safety and health of the Public/residents within Entebbe municipality and neighbourhood in collaboration with the department of Public health.
