THE MAKING OF A MAYOR

Prior to his successful election to the Office of the Mayor, Vincent de Paul Kayanja vaunts of a political and church leadership history spanning several years such as leadership roles in his home area of Katabi sub-parish and apostolic guidance for the youth at the Diocesan Office at Lubaga. He joined active politics as a youth Councilor (1998-2001), he was later to become the Chairman of the Division A Finance Committee. He served as a bursar at the Mary Repartrix Secondary School in Bugonga, Entebbe (2001-2005) and also volunteered at the Radio Maria in Nsambya, hosting the program “Saints of the week” and run some private business.
“I used these years to study the weaknesses in the management of Council business in complete disregard of the established decentralized procedures and this helped me launch my political career and direction”
Vincent de Paul Kayanja unsuccessfully took shots at the mayorship in 2001 and 2006. His Worship Vincent de Paul Kayanja (2011-2016) plans to improve management of revenue collection, ensure community participation in the planning of Council investment so as to build Entebbe into a city befitting its’ status as the gateway into Uganda and host to the Statehouse, the official residence of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda.
